This event is a closed special event to the Rocky Mountain VA and Cheyenne VA Hospital Patients. This is an event that is by INVITE ONLY!

Description

Explore adaptive sports with Adaptive Adventures, the Cheyenne VA Medical Center, Denver VA Medical Center and State of Wyoming State Parks- Curt Gowdy State Park.This event is only open for confirmed registered participants through their respective recreation therapy program. We will be having an overnight aspect to this event with camping/lodging available to registered participants.

Enjoy socializing with our amazing community of participants, volunteers, partners and staff over a two-day period.

Trying some new to you outdoor recreation events, sleeping under the sstars, feasting on good food the group prepares together, campfire, and fun camp games. We have something for everyone to get engaged!

 

Schedule

Monday, May 6th 

Arrival, Check-in- 11:00AM- 12:00PM

12:00- 3:00PM Trail Cycling 

3:30PM Camp set-up and meal prep for Dinner 

4:30-6:00PM  Dinner Prep and Feast 

6:30PM - Interpretive Ranger Talk- Park Geology  

7:30- Evening activities/Relax (Horseshoes, Bocce Ball, and relaxation) 

8:30- Campfire Round-up and Game Night

Tuesday, May 7th 

7:30-8:30AM -Coffee and Breakfast at the Lodge 

8:30-9:15AM -Morning Mobility / Tai Chi 

9:30- 12:30PM – Paddlesports (weather permitting) 

12:30-1:30PM- Lunch 

1:30-3:00PM Hiking and camp clean-up

 

There will be three sports running throughout the time frame: cycling, paddlesports, and hiking. Each sport will be an introduction and allow all participants to experience the various adaptations and equipment available.

Who Can Attend? 
 

How Should I Dress & Things to bring?

Bring layers, sleeping gear, medications,  protective sun gear, swim gear (items that can get wet), sandals/water shoes, towels, water bottle, suncreen, and chair. 

Please Note - Weather is fairly unpredictable (and yet predictable)! When we have sunny days, it is likely that we will get afternoon thunderstorms. Please make a note of this when planning to come to this event. We will continue to run our activities as long as possible but please know that we may need to stop programming later in the afternoons if lightning or excessive winds are in the area.
